Dr. Amit Mehra, CFA co-founded Ventions, and currently serves as CFO and Managing Partner in the DC-based Services Group.

Prior to starting Ventions, Dr. Mehra worked as Chief Engineer at D-STAR Engineering, where he had overall responsibility for development of an advanced turbine engine for UAV applications under a $4.6MM DARPA-program, and successfully took the engine from concept to component-level testing in less than 1 year.

Dr. Mehra has also worked as a management consultant with Dean and Company, a strategy consulting firm in the Washington DC area, gaining experience in the energy and telecom practices of the company, including financial valuation and due diligence for power plants, merger integration support for two $7B utilities, and operational cost restructuring for telecom voice / data carriers.

Dr. Mehra holds a PhD and MS in Aero /Astro from MIT’s Gas Turbine Lab, and a BS in Engineering and Applied Science from Caltech. His graduate research, funded by DARPA, resulted in the demonstration of a first-of-its-kind micro-combustion chamber fabricated using silicon chip manufacturing techniques, and was awarded the 1st prize at the Merrill Lynch Global Innovation Grants Competition for its widespread commercial potential.

Dr. Mehra has also received various other awards including recognition as one of the top 12 technology innovators of Indian descent in the US (Outlook magazine, 2002), a best paper award at the International Fluid Dynamics conference, and the Caltech Carnation Merit Fellowship.
